Getting a higher education is something that many people have as a goal for themselves! Beauty school is a great option for people who don’t want the traditional university experience and have goals in the world of beauty.

Just like any major life milestone, adding change to your routine can sometimes feel unmanageable. However, at Keune Academy by 124, we’re here to support and set our students up for success in accomplishing their goals.

There are things that you can do to help you balance beauty school and life while reaching your target in both worlds! Take a look at some of our tips on how to get the most out of your beauty school experience and how to make it less stressful.

1. Find a Schedule That Works for You

Figuring out what your future schedule will look like for the next several months is important for your time management. There are plenty of different ways to adjust your schedule to attend cosmetology school.

If you’re well supported financially there’s a possibility that you can go to school and focus solely on your education. However, there are plenty of people who decide to go to beauty school as well as have a part-time job! We hold classes during the day so that our students can do homework, have a job, and spend time with friends and family in the evening.

Our classes are held Tuesday through Saturday, which allows students to focus on work and family on Sundays and Mondays. There is also financial aid available to those who qualify to help you through your journey.

2. Stick to a Routine

Once you have a schedule mapped out, make sure that you develop a routine and try to stick to it! There are many different health benefits to having a routine like better stress levels, improved sleep, and increased physical and mental health.

Having a great balance with all of these things can help you succeed when life might start to feel a little stressful! Some things you can incorporate into your routine to help you feel and perform better is:

  • A consistent sleep schedule
  • Healthy eating habits
  • Great hygiene and skincare
  • Regular exercise

3. Block Out Time for the Important Events

Even though sticking to a routine is important, it’s also just as important to be flexible when things may come up! It’s helpful to have a planner or a calendar, either digital or physical to help you plan out your week ahead of time to see where you might need to make some adjustments.

Also, remember to block out time in your schedule to take time for things that you enjoy! It’s easy to get burnt out, so to try and avoid that, make sure you take an hour or two to spend time with family, go to the mall, or something else you enjoy!

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Ask for Help

Just like with any big change, life can sometimes start to feel a little hectic! But that’s okay! Surround yourself with people who are prepared to support you through your journey. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with preparing dinner or needing a workout buddy to motivate you to take a healthy break!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your new family at school too! At Keune Academy by 124, we have resources to help our students succeed. Our teachers and staff are passionate about teaching beauty and love watching their students graduate and start to fulfill their dreams!

5. Reward Yourself

One of the most important things to remember when you take on balancing beauty school and regular life is to reward yourself! When you reward yourself in the moment for accomplishing something hard or something you didn’t want to do, your brain feels positive emotions. When that happens you can soon begin to recognize that your efforts will lead to positive things!

Make sure your reward fits the accomplishment too! It might not be the best idea to take yourself out to an expensive dinner every time you submit a homework assignment. However, you can take yourself out to an expensive dinner when you sit for your state boards and reward yourself with an extra hour to watch your favorite show when you complete a difficult assignment.
